SATRO & DMV Awarded in Russian market
Textrion PROGEL 800 has been enthusiastically received by the yoghurt industry in different markets, but there are many other possible applications, for example in mayonnaise.
10/12/08 SATRO GmbH & DMV International won the silver medal for the best introduction of new and innovative food ingredients, on this year´s “Ingredients Russia” in Moscow.
“We are pleased to have won the silver medal. For us it means we are aware of the Russian market needs. Together with DMV International and close relationships with Russian customers we have achieved this breakthrough and we expect future growth”, states Sierk Weisser, sales director food ingredients SATRO GmbH.
Mrs. Mirjam van der Molen has presented in the Ingredients Russia Conference Programme. Her lecture is titled: “TextrionTM PROGEL 800: High gelling whey proteins in yoghurt and other food applications” and is focussed on SATRO/DMV International’s newly developed high gelling whey protein concentrate TextrionTM PROGEL 800.
Mirjam van der Molen, senior product developer at DMV International, highlighted in her lecture at the Crocus Expo premises in Moscow, the physical properties that are most interesting for the food industry. A low dosage of Textrion PROGEL 800 delivers an optimal texture with high viscosity. The product has excellent water binding ability and good emulsifying properties. Thus making it ideally suited for dairy and bakery products. Gelling is initiated by inducing heat or acidification. TextrionT PROGEL 800 has a neutral flavour. It’s ideal for a large number of applications like:
- improving creaminess in Yoghurt (all types)
- preventing syneresis in Sour Cream & cream cheese
- Mayonnaise
- replacing Egg’s baked goods
“The Russian food market is developing. We have been in close contact with our customers for many years. Jointly we try to find the best solutions to meet specific consumer requirements. This is the basis for our successful products and future cooperations”, concludes Sierk Weisser.
This year´s focus on the “Ingredients Russia 2008” was on presenting solutions for the growing Russian bakery market.
SATRO GmbH and DMV International produce food ingredients and operate within the Industrial products division of Campina, excelling in spray-drying and agglomeration technology. Their joint portfolio includes the production of special powder ingredients for the bakery industry as well as for soups, sauces and dairy products. The production plants are located in Lippstadt (Germany) and Veghel (the Netherlands). Aligning key competences has lead to synergies in the development of new ingredients that bring solutions to customers.
Textrion PROGEL 800 has been enthusiastically received by the yoghurt industry in different markets, but there are many other possible applications, for example in mayonnaise. One of the most important alternative uses is in the bakery sector, where it can replace egg in cake.
Baked goods containing WPCs can now even be a part a strict vegetarian’s diet. So Textrion PROGEL 800 is doing well among Hindu bakeries in India. But bird flu is another factor in the ingredient’s increasing popularity in Asia. Textrion PROGEL800 can also be used to add stability and creaminess to humus, a popular savory dip in the Middle East and Asia, made from chick peas. WPCs are also used in the meat industry, for preservation. One of the many advantages of Textrion PROGEL 800 is that it holds and binds fluid, preventing meat from drying out. It is especially good for preserving ham.
DMV International makes Textrion PROGEL 800 in their newly built plant in Veghel, the Netherlands. It is made from whey, which in the past was seen as only a by-product of cheese and butter. Whey has since become a valuable separate product. These days, whey proteins are engineered to perform all sorts of useful functions, with Textrion PROGEL 800 as the latest addition to the repertoire.
