River North Releases Grand Unified Theory
10 Aug 2015
10 Aug 2015 --- In a beer world rife with barrel-aged options, River North Brewery continues to push the envelope.
Their next release, Grand Unified Theory, utilizes Boulevardier cocktail barrels – formerly holding whiskey, vermouth, and bitter liqueur – to elevate the craft of barrel-aging to a whole new level.
Releasing Saturday, August 15th at 1pm, Grand Unified Theory embodies a transcendental change for River North’s oak-aged imperial witbier, Unified Theory.
“What really struck me about these unique barrels was the aromatic spice note from the vermouth, balanced by a subtle bitter orange note,” Founder and Head Brewer Matt Hess said. “It’s the perfect complement to a Belgian-style wheat beer, accenting the delicate yeast esters without the need to add actual fruit.”
Grand Unified Theory will be available on draft to enjoy at the release party, as well as in bombers to go ($15 each, half-case limit). Local food truck Roaming Bull Brasserie will also join for the festivities.
More bottles will appear on Colorado shelves following the release, but with only 75 cases bottled in total, supplies will be limited. Grand Unified Theory can be enjoyed fresh or cellared for several years.
