Printronix Strengthens Its Commitment to Widespread RFID Printing Adoption Through ScanSource RFID Edge Program
RFID Edge gives solutions providers a single, centralized source for RFID education and technical training that enables them to offer complete RFID solutions.
15/09/06 Printronix Inc., the leading integrated supply chain printing solutions manufacturer, is fueling the adoption of radio frequency identification (RFID) printing by endorsing RFID Edge, an RFID training and support program developed by ScanSource, a leading international distributor of specialty technology products.
"RFID is an important technology for solutions providers to embrace because of its vast benefits in the supply chain," said James B. McWilson, senior vice president, sales, the Americas and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa), Printronix. "To successfully sell, install and support RFID, a provider must be well-trained in a spectrum of products from a range of vendors, which can be time-consuming and costly. ScanSource developed RFID Edge to remove the barriers to entry, expedite the learning process and get resellers selling in the field faster. We're proud to not only endorse the program but also provide our total support."
RFID Edge gives solutions providers a single, centralized source for RFID education and technical training that enables them to offer complete RFID solutions. Endorsed by 12 prominent RFID manufacturers, this week-long program includes a hands-on RFID qualification course and an RFID laboratory and demonstration center. RFID Edge also includes the RFID Solution Partner Program, RFID Professional Services, RFID Solutions Engineering Team and a dedicated RFID Help Desk.

At the training center in Memphis, Tenn., the focus is on hands-on learning. Solutions providers are able to work with a variety of products, including fixed readers, portable printers and RFID software. Printronix contributed its SL7000r MP2 RFID printer, an automated RFID printing solution for compliance and in-line applications that delivers true Gen 2 RFID encoding designed to EPCglobal Gen 2 specifications. It is the only print applicator included in the training program.
"We are committed to providing our customers with solutions training, not simply product training," said Brent Busha, director of emerging technologies, ScanSource. "The success of RFID Edge hinges on the commitment and support we receive from our industry-leading partners. Printronix is a valuable part of the mix: They provide continuous product life-cycle support and the follow up customers depend on when they are out in the field."
