Pelican Brewing Company Opens New Brewpub in Cannon Beach
21 Jun 2016 --- Just in time for summer! Another option for a coastal quaff of Pelican beer? Yes! Staying true to its beach roots, Pelican’s much-anticipated Cannon Beach brewpub is open for business expanding its footprint on the Oregon Beer Trail as a leader in the state’s beer tourism scene.
Twenty years after opening its first brewpub—and Oregon’s only oceanfront brewpub—in Pacific City, Pelican Brewing Company brings its award-winning beers and popular beer cuisine to another coast town. The new brewpub offers the same unique menu created by executive chef Ged Aydelott and like its Pacific City location and Tillamook Tap Room, the Cannon Beach brewery will produce its own beer for on-premise sales. Just some of the menu’s top sellers include:
- Smoked Oyster Bruschetta with Kiwanda Cream Ale brined oysters
- MacPelican’s Ale Sausage Flatbread
- Smoked Half Chicken brined in Umbrella IPA
- Tri-Tip Sandwich with Tsunami Stout barbecue sauce

The new family-friendly brewpub is inspired by Oregon’s historic coastal canneries with 27’ vaulted ceilings down the center of the building for an open and airy feel, an exhibition kitchen with an open flame pizza oven, and roll-up garage doors to bring the outside in when the weather is nice. The new brewpub also sports an expansive outdoor patio with fire elements perfect for donning your shades and relaxing with friends. Inside there’s seating for 170 and more than 50 guests can sit outside and soak up the summer sun while enjoying Pelican ales and beer cuisine.
“We’ve always been all about creating an enjoyable and memorable guest experience at our brewpubs—Pelican was born at the beach 20 years ago and our guests have come to love that laid back coastal experience,” says Jim Prinzing, CEO, Pelican Brewing Company. “We look forward to serving our loyal Pelican fanatics while we continue to introduce newcomers to the Pelican beer culture.”
Pelican, which is one of Oregon’s fastest growing craft breweries, brings more than 70 new jobs to this coastal town and welcomes applicants interested in joining their family-oriented culture.
