30/11/06 Royal Numico N.V. announces the sale of its Coeliac business for an undisclosed amount. The Coeliac business will be acquired by Dr. Schär Srl., an Italian family-owned company that is the leading European player in the gluten-free food products sector. The transaction is expected to be completed before year-end.
The divestiture is the outcome of a strategic evaluation which Numico initiated in August 2006. The Coeliac business provides gluten-free nutrition and the decision to exit is driven by an assessment of the company’s current competitive position in this area and its fit within the broader Clinical Nutrition portfolio.
