Zero-calorie sweetener: Amyris inks major supply deal with ASR

04 Oct 2018 --- Just a few weeks after Amyris was given GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status on its sugarcane-derived zero-calorie ingredient, the company has revealed that it is joining forces with the ASR Group in a major supply and distribution deal. The move comes at a time when consumers are looking for high-quality calorie reduction that tastes as good as sugar.

03 Oct 2018 --- With the help of CRISPR genome editing, researchers have discovered how to take a little-known fruit called the groundcherry (Physalis Pruinosa) from almost wild to almost domesticated in a just a few years. And, the “new” fruit is being tipped as a contender for favorites like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries. The groundcherry, which is around the size of a marble, could become agriculture's next big berry crop.

03 Oct 2018 --- Now that the new US-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) has been drafted during last-minute talks, the US and Canadian dairy industries have two very different viewpoints on the proposed new version of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). The Americans are declaring a victory for dairy farmers because they’ve gained access to the Canadian market, while Canadian farmers claim the Government has sacrificed their livelihoods.
