Novozymes Inaugurates New R&D Center and Office in India
Novozymes is looking to the Indian office to support its global operations, from administration to management and research & development. Novozymes India began its operations in 1983 with two employees operating from a business center.
23 Nov 2010 --- Novozymes, the world’s largest producer of industrial enzymes, opened its new state-of-the art research & development center and office at Whitefield in Bangalore, India.
The new center was inaugurated by Novozymes’ Chief Executive Officer Steen Riisgaard and Executive Vice President for Research & Development Per Falholt.
The new Novozymes building will house its Indian operations, including global support services and the R&D center.
“Our Indian management team has found a facility that can accommodate both the needs of the Indian business in order to deliver on our growth promise and the growing demand for global shared services. We believe that this space creates a prominent landmark for Novozymes in India and is geared to accommodate the growth of Novozymes in India in coming years,” says G.S. Krishnan, Novozymes’ Regional President – India.
Inaugurating the new R&D complex, Per Falholt said: “We have created a modern research center for Novozymes in India. This center will play an important role in our efforts toward discovering new applications and technologies globally and locally.”
The R&D center will undertake protein engineering work for Novozymes’ global requirements and will act as a resource base for the company’s global discovery projects. The center will also serve as an application technology excellence center for Novozymes’ global juice and wine industry requirements. The center is actively innovating food applications for the Indian market by undertaking research to understand local needs in India. The center foresees an important role in the Indian market for enzymatic applications in various industries.
Novozymes is the largest supplier of industrial enzymes and microorganisms in India, catering to requirements in the detergent, food, feed, textile, leather, oils & fats, beverage alcohol, and biofuel industries. India is an important region for the company’s future growth plans.
