07 Jul 2016 --- Dessert giant Pecan Deluxe has revealed a new peanut butter flavored caramel cup that is completely nut free, claiming to offer a unique product to the confectionary market.
The company claims to have developed the cups in order to meet the growing demand for peanut flavor confectionery while still complying with nut free regulations.
The peanut butter flavor cups contain no actual nut or nut derived product, and are manufactured in Pecan Deluxe’s segregated nut-free facility using all natural flavors.
With 4,000 people every year newly diagnosed with a peanut allergy in the UK alone, it’s good news for peanut allergy sufferers. Pecan Deluxe hope their product will not just act as a nut-free alternative to peanut butter products, but will genuinely taste like the real thing.
In a unique move, the product will be made available to multiple markets as a standalone ingredient, and can be added to products such as ice cream, other chilled and frozen desserts, cakes, doughnuts and tray bakes. They can also be added to bagged snacks such as trail mix to create or enhance a premium range.
Pecan Deluxe anticipates that this will be a very popular product, particularly in chilled and frozen dessert markets and bakery”. This makes it a very versatile inclusion and especially ideal for nut-free environments such as certain airlines, and nut-free food ranges.
Pecan Deluxe’s managing director, Graham Kingston, explained: “We pride ourselves on product innovation and are delighted to bring to market what we believe to be the first mini caramel cup of its kind. Yes, there are nut-free peanut butter flavor products available - but as standalone snacks and confectionery, not as a bulk-supplied ambient or frozen inclusion for multiple markets. The possibilities are almost endless: combine the cups with strawberry sauce for a peanut butter and jelly style ice cream; or bake in a premium cake range with our fudge pieces as toppings.
Kingston adds, “Wherever they end up, one thing is sure: these peanut butter flavor cups are totally nut free and so an excellent choice in challenging environments such as airline catering or where allergens are being actively reduced or discouraged. The cups are extensively tested and are proven to work well in a variety of food production environments – unlike some of the other peanut butter substitutes, which can be highly incompatible with large-scale manufacturing processes.”
The cups are available in multiple formats: bags, bulk bags boxed, and with either ambient milk chocolate or frozen low melt chocolate compound.
