Murano SpA Moves to Plastic Packaging for its Range of Mixed Nuts
Whereas the metal cans came with a plastic lid, switching to SuperLock has also made the filling process simpler because it is a single-material packaging.
11 April 2012 --- Italian producer Murano SpA, has switched from metal to plastic containers for its range of mixed nuts by choosing SuperLock from RPC Superfos.
Greater cost efficiency, longer shelf life and flexible design possibilities including a see-through area to show the product are some of the benefits that the business enjoys with its new packaging solution.
Whereas the metal cans came with a plastic lid, switching to SuperLock has also made the filling process simpler because it is a single-material packaging.
SuperLock stacks perfectly to optimise storage capacity, another advantage for logistics and supply chain efficiency. Further, the extremely low oxygen transmission rates fulfil the requirements for a long shelf life. Barrier protection on all surfaces, combined with a membrane sealing, means that the mixed savoury nuts can stay on shelf just as long as in cans.
Francesco Eboli, Purchase Manager for Murano, says: "We continuously look to improve our business and the new packaging is part of this process.
"We are a family owned business with strong history. My grandfather established Murano in 1944 and I like to combine our good traditions with modern initiatives like the innovative SuperLock. It is a great alternative to the cans the company used before.”
SuperLock also allows the application of strong colours in the design, enhancing the visual presence of the product on shelf to attract customer attention. The design incorporates an elegantly shaped transparent window to display the nuts inside the pack.
