Meyer Natural Angus to Purchase Natural Beef Business of Coleman Natural Foods

04/04/08 Meyer Natural Angus announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase the natural and organic beef business of Coleman Natural Foods LLC. The companies expect to conclude the transaction June 1.
The sale will allow each company to tighten its focus on strategic goals. The addition of the Coleman Natural beef business will enable Meyer Natural Angus to significantly expand its position in the rapidly growing market for premium quality natural beef. The sale will allow Coleman Natural Foods, in turn, to focus on continued strong growth in its other businesses, including natural poultry, pork and prepared foods.
"This agreement is a sign of our strong commitment to the natural beef industry," said Al Byers, President of Meyer Natural Angus. "With the addition of the Coleman Natural beef business, we will expand our market presence, associate with a brand that has been an innovator in natural beef and be in a position to provide superior service to the many customers of the Coleman Natural and Meyer Natural Angus brands."
Coleman Natural beef suppliers and customers can expect a seamless transition, according to Meyer officials. "We're committed to delivering great service during and after the ownership transition," Byers said. "For customers and cattle suppliers, it's business as usual."
