"Methionine" Project: First Poultry Certification Tests
Roquette's partner METabolic EXplorer has obtained promising results with the strain developed, which will enable Roquette to start, still at the pilot stage, the production of batches of sufficient quantity for the launching of regulatory certification testing of the product.
19 Nov 2009 --- METabolic EXplorer and Roquette announce launch of first poultry certification tests for their Methionine product.
BioHub, the vegetal-based chemistry programme coordinated by Roquette, accepted in 2006 by Oseo Innovation, with a 7-year timescale and a total budget of 90 M€, aims to develop new production outlets for cereal-based chemical products and ingredients.
This programme groups together several topics and is the subject of extensive collaboration with European chemical firms (Arkema, Solvay, DSM), French companies (Eurovia, Sidel) and French research laboratories (CNRS, Insa Lyon, Insa Rouen and IMMCL Lille), and industrial biotechnology firms such as METabolic EXplorer.
The methionine project is part of BioHub and an important step has just been completed: Roquette's partner METabolic EXplorer has obtained promising results with the strain developed, which will enable Roquette to start, still at the pilot stage, the production of batches of sufficient quantity for the launching of regulatory certification testing of the product.
Subsequently, additional efficacy tests designed to assess the growth of chickens fed with the methionine produced through fermentation will be launched. These studies will be done over a period of approximately 24 months. These steps are essential for any decision-taking, in particular on the location and size of a future industrial production facility.
