McDonald's(R) adds to its line of Premium Chicken Sandwiches
Introduces new Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich.
01/02/06 McDonald's has added a new Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich to its highly successful line of Premium Chicken Sandwiches. The new Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich, available in more than 13,700 U.S. McDonald's restaurants, combines smoked Jalapeno, Cayenne pepper and other spices to deliver a distinctly bold new taste. The crispy chicken breast is served on a warm honey wheat roll with crisp lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise.
To add a bit of "kick" to the nationwide launch, customers can sample the new sandwich at participating restaurants, February 9-12 during lunchtime from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. (local time). The launch will also include a "Spicy Hot Spot" tour. The tour will kick off in New York City on January 31, and travel to 14 select cities to help promote this latest addition to McDonald's menu. Other hot spots on the tour include: Philadelphia; Detroit; Washington; Charlotte, NC; Atlanta; Daytona, FL; Miami; Houston; Dallas; Phoenix; San Diego and Los Angeles. The tour will conclude in San Francisco, February 27.
McDonald's leads the U.S. food service industry in sales of chicken strips and chicken sandwiches. The company sells more than 600 million pounds of chicken each year. In 2005, McDonald's recorded a 27 percent share of chicken sandwiches, more than its top three competitors combined.
The addition of the Spicy Premium Chicken Sandwich reflects not only the tastes of McDonald's customers, but according to a national survey, 85 percent of Americans say they like foods that are "bold, hot and spicy."
