MANE Awarded BRC Certification for French Production Site
MANE is extremely proud to announce that its Sablé-sur-Sarthe production site (France) has recently been awarded the BRC (British Retail Consortium) certification version 6 standard. This certification shows that MANE has met the highest standards for its food safety systems.
22 Jan 2013 --- Mane’s Sablé-sur-Sarthe site is entirely dedicated to the production of functional blends of flavours, ingredients and additives for the meat, fish, ready meals and snack industries. Seven million euros were recently invested in a plant extension and new production unit to ensure a strict management of cross contaminations, thanks to the use of innovative equipment from the pharmaceutical industry. This blending equipment ensures the integrity of formulas (i.e. no ingredient from one blend is transferred to another).
As early as January 2012, MANE introduced an action plan focusing on improved food safety to meet the BRC’s standards at its Sablé-sur-Sarthe production site. The plant is the third production site to obtain the BRC certification: both Le Bar-sur-Loup (dedicated to the production of ingredients, fragrances and sweet flavours) and Quéven (specialising in savoury flavours production) are already BRC version 6 standard certified. The Sablé-sur-Sarthe site, which has been ISO9001/2008 for seven years, has successfully undergone the BRC certification audit. The certification body (CMI) highlighted that the following points as particularly positive during the audit:
• Equipment used in the 2 production units
• Knowledge and reactivity of production operators
• Capability of the Quality Assurance department
The successful certification of Sablé-sur-Sarthe enables MANE to offer its functional and aromatic blends to new countries where the BRC standard is a prerequisite, such as the UK and Ireland.
Selling in more than 60 countries around the world, MANE is a leading fragrance and flavour house, continuously run and owned by the MANE family since 1871. MANE became one of the most important players in the functional and aromatic blends dedicated to the meat industry further to the purchase of France Protéines Services (FPS) in 1998 – the Sablésur- Sarthe production site formed part of this acquisition. With more than 30 years of experience in the development of complete solutions for the meat industry, the Noisiel development centre became known as “MEAT PRO” in September, a unique Centre of Excellence for meat products in Europe that brings together meat flavouring and application expertise.
