Jun 3 2010 --- Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients (LCI) has launched absoluteWHEAT, a nutritional concentrate of white wheat.
“LCI's new product, absoluteWHEAT, is a concentrate of white wheat that has nutritional benefits, is clean label, has taste and colour benefits, and is easy to use,” says Anne Lionnet, Marketing Manager for Bakery at LCI.
“Our new product is available now for the bakery market: in bread, for precooked loaves or baguettes; for whole wheat crepes; for croissants; and for breadcrumbs. It is also suitable for pasta, biscuit and breakfast cereals.”
absoluteWHEAT is produced from specially-selected white wheat varieties from the breeding programme of LCI's parent, Groupe Limagrain - the EU’s leading seed group. This pedigree gives absoluteWHEAT a unique background and full traceability.
“absoluteWHEAT is a true concentrate of the nutrients in wheat - including minerals, vitamins and fibre - and has a big plus in taste and colour,” points out Anne Lionnet. “Because it comes from white wheats, the ingredient has an attractive light colour, also the product has a reduction in the bitterness that can be found with standard wheats.”
Limagrain Céréales Ingrédients (LCI) combines different varieties of cereals with a patented hydrothermal treatment process called farigel, which naturally modifies the intrinsic properties of natural cereals. LCI makes a vast range of ingredients called functional flours, with high-performance properties for a wide array of applications. By combining these functional flours with the other baking ingredients, we produce alternative solutions to additives, allowing you to label products ‘clean label’.
LCI have developed their expertise in five markets: snacks, breakfast cereals, bakery, convenience food and non-food applications (bioplastics from cereals). Developments in all these areas are underpinned by ulice, LCI's laboratory at the cutting edge of cereal research. LCI is a subsidiary of the Limagrain Group - the European Union’s leading seed group. This gives LCI a unique understanding of cereals and their advantages for the food processing industries. This understanding of the functionalities of each ingredient and each raw material, along with their interactions in the various processes used, enables LCI to develop authentic and functional ingredients as solutions to improve clients’ products and margins.
