Klabin Cartonboard Packs Cans and Long-Neck Bottles of Bohemia Beer
Environmentally correct, Bohemia’s multi-pack packaging is made with KlaMulti, the Klabin cartonboard which guarantees the best cost benefit for the beverage market.
18 Feb 2010 --- To guarantee the quality of Bohemia beer’s multipack packaging, GPI printers (Graphic Packaging International) advocate KlaMulti, the cartonboard produced by Klabin. Recommended for manufacture of multiple packs of beverages, KlaMulti offers excellent tear resistance, a vital property for protecting beer, yoghurts, soft drinks and other products.
Packages manufactured with KlaMulti can get wet without affecting their properties. Produced with a mixture of short fibers (eucalyptus) and long fibers (pine), KlaMulti is treated internally with special sizing which ensures its strength even in severe moisture conditions. This fiber furnish, together with its triple layer of coating, endows it with a superior printing surface.
“The main differential of cartonboard made by Klabin is its cost benefit: KlaMulti, as in the case of all our board lines, offers lower basis weights but maintains the same properties”, explains Edgard Azevum, sales director for the Board division.
An additional feature of packaging made with Klabin cartonboard is its concept of sustainability, since it is ecologically correct: 100% recyclable, biodegradable and comes from planted forests, that is to say, from renewable sources of raw material.
A 110 year-old company, Klabin bases itself on the principles of sustainability in all activities involving its products and services. The first to introduce the concept of sustainable development, it is the only company in Latin America to have been awarded FSC certification for its forestry area and its entire chain of production. The FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) trademark attests that forest management and the paper-making process are carried out in a sustainable manner, in other words that they are environmentally correct, socially just and economically viable.
All cartonboard manufactured by Klabin conforms to the strictest regulations for packaging materials in direct contact with foodstuffs – such as the American agency - FDA (Food and Drug Administration) – and the German federal institution - BfR (Bundesinstitut für Risikobewertung). This conformity is borne out by the renowned independent, institute in Germany, ISEGA.
