Jungbunzlauer Welcomes the European Approval of Erythritol For Beverage Use
21 Oct 2015 --- Ingredients specialist JungBunzlauer has welcomed the long-awaited approval of erythritol as flavour enhancer in beverages by the European Commission. This approval is the result of the positive EFSA opinion earlier this year on the safety of erythritol at use levels up to 1.6% and it opens new opportunities in the field of energy reduced and with-no-added sugar flavoured drinks.
Jungbunzlauer welcomes this approval as the whole sensory profile of flavoured drinks can be improved in terms of flavour development, mouthfeel, acid sweetness balance and off taste. This will increase the acceptance of healthy drink concepts amongst the European consumer and facilitate the development of alternatives to sugary drinks.
Jungbunzlauer manufactures ERYLITE Erythritol in its state-of-the-art production facility in Marckolsheim, France. Furthermore, Jungbunzlauer manufactures ERYLITE Stevia, blends of ERYLITE and steviol glycosides that offer zero calorie and zero glycaemic taste enhancement.
