Ingredion and Batory Foods new distribution deal promises faster market-ready products
27 May 2020 --- Ingredion Incorporated has signed a strategic distribution agreement with Batory Foods. The agreement arrangement consolidates Ingredion’s position in Southern California, US, to help food and beverage manufacturers get on-demand ingredients for faster speed-to-market applications.
“Distribution through Batory Foods allows us to focus our go-to-market efforts in a region known to be dynamic, innovative and faster to respond to shifts in consumer demand,” says Gary Leeson, Ingredion’s Sales Director, Distributors. “With solutions ranging from clean label native and functional starches to multi-functional flours and fibers to plant-based proteins and non-GMO modified food starches, Ingredion has the breadth of ingredients to help manufacturers create market-ready products with just-right taste, texture and performance,” he adds.
“Batory Foods will support Southern California customers with easy access to ingredient solutions and systems,,” adds Dan Riesenberg, Batory Food’s Sales Director. “Given our strong and extensive national distribution coverage, customers outside of Southern California will continue to be able to obtain Ingredion solutions through Batory Foods, as before,” Riesenberg adds.
Founded in 1979, Batory Foods offers a full portfolio of high-quality food ingredients to food and beverage manufacturers throughout the US. Batory operates a national system of warehouses and distribution centers centered on logistics principles for quick and efficient delivery of products, the company notes.
This distribution deal closely follows Ingredion entering into an exclusive commercial agreement with Northern Quinoa Production Corporation earlier this month to globally distribute and market NorQuin's quinoa flours. The company has also concluded a financial agreement, including the option of a future equity investment in NorQuin which will broaden Ingredion’s range of plant-based protein ingredients that are widely sought after by consumers.
Also in May, Ingredion EMEA launched its first erythritol polyol sweetener, marketed under the brand Erysta. Erythritol is a polyol made through a fermentation process and can be found naturally in some fruits and vegetables. The ingredient offers a sweetness profile similar to sugar, with a distinctive cooling effect. It can also be paired with other bulking solutions and sweeteners such as stevia to deliver a more sugar-like flavor experience.
