In The Pink
Rosé wine is fast becoming this summer's drink of choice and as the weather gets warmer and days get longer, customer demand for the pink tipple now sees Waitrose selling rosé magnums. The large bottle will be popular among rosé fans, as wines in magnums are perfect for sharing and are known to drink and age particularly well.
Launching in shops and online at waitrosecellar.com this week, the Barton and Guestier Passeport 2015 Cotes de Provence Rosé, France, will cost £19.99 for 1.5 litres.
This magnum bottle is equivalent to 8.5 small glasses, or 6 large glasses, of wine.
Head of wine buying, Pierpaolo Petrassi MW, says, ''The novelty of magnum bottles is something our shoppers never get bored of and we are thrilled to introduce this new wine for them to try. Thanks to the larger bottle size, wines in magnums aren't as exposed to oxidisation, so tend to retain their complexity and mature more slowly. Perfect for an impressive showstopper at a summer BBQ or a talking point at a dinner party, this rosé is an exciting addition to our range. What better way to spend the weekend than enjoying a beautiful rosé with friends?'
This pale, dry rosé is packed with fresh, red berry fruit and a zesty, aromatic finish. Serve lightly chilled as an aperitif or with fish dishes, white cheese or fresh asparagus.
