Huhtamaki Develops Products Made from Recycled PET (RPET)
RPET has been used to manufacturer PET Polarity tumblers and lids, which offer excellent clarity and crack resistance. In fact, the physical properties of RPET are the same as APET, so consumers are less likely to notice a difference!
06/08/08 As manufacturer of innovative foodservice disposables, Huhtamaki is showing its ongoing commitment to the environment by developing products made using RPET. RPET is Recycled PET from Post Consumer Recycled material derived from PET bottles.
Using a minimum of 40% post consumer waste through the certified cleaning process, means Huhtamaki meets the approved RPET grade for direct food contact.

The availability of food-grade RPET in the UK has improved significantly thanks to organised collection and handling. This in turn has led Huhtamaki to be able to start using the material.
