Grolsch Reveals Its New Packaging Design

Now Grolsch will have the same appearance worldwide, where the characteristic G will remain prominent and recognisable on its lively green background. The new design will be available in stores from the 5th of March.

Feb 24 2012 --- Grolsch has revealed its new design, which was the result of a cooperation with international branding and packaging consultants CARTILS. The beer brand has launched the new packaging to create a consistent and noticeable look, which revolves around taste and freshness. Now Grolsch will have the same appearance worldwide, where the characteristic G will remain prominent and recognisable on its lively green background. The new design will be available in stores from the 5th of March.

“We wanted the tastiness and refreshing character of our beer to be more prominent in the new packaging of our products,” says Jan Nales, Marketing Director of Grolsch.  “Another goal was to ensure as much consistency as possible to improve recognition as well as standing out from other beer brands. For these reasons it was decided to create a striking new design focusing on expressing taste, refreshment and unity.”

Fresh, Bold and Dynamic Expression

In all the new packaging there is a clear sense of modernisation, which causes a fresh, bold and dynamic expression. The logo has been made clearer causing it to jump out more through the contrast of the white background. Furthermore there has been consistent use of a lively colour green with red accents. The secondary packaging clearly demonstrates through imagery and text which content can be expected, and allows for recognisability of the differentiation.

The new packaging will include the Grolsch Swing-top, the Grolsch 33cl and 25cl bottles, the Grolsch can and all secondary packaging. The crates and bottle shapes remain unchanged.

The Grolsch Can

The Grolsch can has experienced the largest change, where the silver has made way for the refreshing green. Additionally, the opening on top of the can has been made bigger to increase drinking comfort as well as an improved taste-protecting foil on the inside to keep the taste. The Grolsch “cool-meter” can also be found on the new can; when it turns blue it indicates the beer will taste its best. 

The international branding and packaging consultants CARTILS, were responsible for the new design. “The most important aspect of the new Grolsch label is that it reflects the brands personality while remain respectful to its past, and allowing for a more consistent brand identity,” Gaston van de Laar, Group Director Client Services CARTILS.
