Greencore agrees to sell up British cakes and desserts business
30 Jan 2018 --- Greencore has reached an agreement to sell its cakes and desserts business in Hull, UK, to Bright Blue Foods Ltd, one of the UK’s ambient cake manufacturers.
Greencore has said the disposal, along with the closure of its desserts facility in Evercreech in Somerset, marks its exit from the UK cakes and desserts sector.
Bright Blue Foods is one of the UK’s leading ambient cake manufacturers, supplying retailers across the UK and European market. It has worked with a number of recognizable licensed partners within the ambient cake category, including Lyle’s Golden Syrup, Mars, and McVities.
It also has a number of in-house brands, including Bronte Cake Co., Hoppers Farmhouse Bakeries, Mrs Peek’s, and Say It With Cake.
Bright Blue Foods currently has bakeries in Blackburn and Bradford, UK.
