16/04/08 New MALTRIN OR organic rice maltodextrin from Grain Processing Corporation (GPC) will be the featured ingredient in a delicious organic soft-serve frozen dairy dessert at the 2008 IFT Food Expo in New Orleans. MALTRIN OR adds body and texture to a variety of frozen dessert formulations without excessive sweetness or freezing point depression. Rice-based and hypoallergenic, this newest addition to the GPC MALTRIN maltodextrin line is versatile for use in a wide variety of other applications such as healthy snacks for kids, sports beverages and nutrition bars. The bland flavor, low hygroscopicity and high solubility of MALTRIN OR maltodextrins also make them ideal for spray drying flavors, colors and fruit juices. GPC will also showcase a baked snack that not only tastes great but provides a good source of fiber by including TruBran corn bran. Made from 100% yellow corn, TruBran is available in two particle sizes and can increase fiber in a variety of snacks, cereals, baked goods, nutrition bars and other fiber-fortified foods.
A tasty New Orleans-style gumbo will highlight the thickening and stabilizing properties of PURE-GEL stabilized starches. Additional lines of specialty starch products are also available from GPC, including INSCOSITY cold water-swelling starches, PURE-COTE film-forming starches and PURE-DENT absorbent starches. A gluten-free cookie incorporating some of these innovative ingredients will also be presented.
