3 Sep 2009 --- GlaxoSmithKline is set to drive soft drinks category growth with the addition of an exciting and delicious new Cherry flavour to the Lucozade Energy brand.
Lucozade Energy, the UK's No.1 Energy Drink, has a proven track record of successfully launching NPD that drives category growth.
In 2006 the launch of Lucozade Energy Apple added £1.2m in incremental sales. New Lucozade Energy Cherry is expected to be hugely successful and has received an excellent response from shoppers with more than 70% saying they would buy it.
The new Cherry variant features stylish and contemporary black packaging which will drive strong visibility and awareness on shelf.

The Sports and Energy segment is currently the highest value segment within the Drink Now category, and is the only segment in growth, increasing +7% year-on-year.
Lucozade Energy is the biggest brand in this segment with a 31% share. In the last year alone Lucozade Energy added over £9 million of sales to the category4.
Lucozade Energy Cherry is available now in 380ml, 500ml and 6x 380ml formats.
