Glanbia Nutritionals Expands U.S. Research and Development
The R&D team is responsible for developing new processes that will lead to the creation of product line extensions and new products.
27/09/05 Glanbia Nutritionals is continuing to meet customer needs through new technology, process developments and application testing at their U.S. Research and Development center in Twin Falls, Idaho. The location has been open since September 2003.
Currently, twelve staff members are employed in a 5500 sq.ft. facility, which will effectively meet Glanbia’s growing need for expanding their research and development team. The new space will be able to house more staff and equipment required for their research in developing whey protein-based nutritional ingredients.
The research and development team is responsible for developing new processes that will lead to the creation of product line extensions and new products, and conducting analytical measurements, application development and initiating and supervising clinical research on products.
Within the past year, the company invested in Hosokawa Bepex and MicroThermics lab-scale processing systems, allowing scientists to test pilot nutritional ingredients in prototype beverage and bar products. The systems examine how certain proteins might impact the texture of different bar products, and simulate processing conditions used in the beverage market, saving customers valuable research time.
