Gehl Launches New Product with VFP Bottle Capping
Vaassen Flexible Packaging BV was chosen to supply foil - a critical part of the aseptic seal - because of their broad international experience with aseptic equipment.
Nov 17 2011 --- Gehl Foods, a leader in aseptic dairy production in the US, has launched its new Main St. Café beverage line in HDPE bottles capped with Vaassen Capsteril foil. The line of healthy, protein-fortified yogurt smoothies is the first shelf-stable bottled yogurt beverage in the US, and the first beverage from Gehl Food’s new aseptic bottling lines.
Already the smoothies have won awards from both the vending and convenience store industries, based on their unique ability to expand sales opportunities for real dairy products beyond the refrigerated dairy case.
Although Gehl Foods had already been focused exclusively on low-acid aseptic filling, the aseptic bottle installation required new equipment from end to end. Vaassen Flexible Packaging BV was chosen to supply foil - a critical part of the aseptic seal - because of their broad international experience with aseptic equipment.
From the first meetings which took place in spring 2009, the two companies worked together closely on the specification and application of the seals. “We were very happy to have Vaassen Flexible Packaging provide such a crucial component,” says Mike Sowieja, VP Engineering for Gehl Foods. “Vaassen knew the qualification process well, and their proactive thinking and acting is highly appreciated”.
Both Gehl Foods and Vaassen are looking forward to work together making this concept a further growing success in the future.
