FFP antimicrobial ingredient offers natural protection against Listeria monocytogenes while extending shelf life
26 May 2023 --- FFP has launched a clean label antimicrobial ingredient, VegStable Secure, that allows brands to naturally protect a variety of foods from pathogens and spoilage by inhibiting the growth of Listeria monocytogenes without compromising on functionality or taste.
Consumers remain willing to pay more for premium food with simple and natural ingredients and with a clean label while avoiding “chemical-sounding” ingredients and solutions, notes FFP.
FFP cites the International Food Information Council’s (IFIC) data about consumer perspectives on food ingredients, identifying 64% of consumers who said they try to choose foods made with clean ingredients. Meanwhile, 71% said they would pay more for food and beverages made with ingredients that they recognize and trust.

Targeting spoilage
VegStable Secure targets Listeria monocytogenes and spoilage bacteria that compromise food integrity. Its simple ingredient statement, coupled with a clean flavor profile, provides food manufacturers the ability to deliver products with greater consumer appeal, notes the company.
