Evian is Going to Commercialise Recycled PET Bottles
According to Evian, R-PET will allow the company to reduce 17% of the carbon prints related to the packaging of a 1.5L bottle, Evian’s main product.
12/12/2007 From January 2008 on, Evian is going to progressively commercialise its 1L and 0.75L water bottles in recycled PET (25%)
Evian’s 1.5L bottle will be introduced in April 2008. The aim of Danone’s water brand is to commercialise all its 0.75L, 1L and 1.5L bottles in R-PET (recycled PET) in the end of 2008. This substitution is ahead of the European Union legislation which will authorise in 2008 all countries to use recycled PET in food packaging.
In France, this possibility already existed up to 25%, using AFSSA agreed procedures. It is the case of SuperCycle, released by the Spanish La Seda (which acquired Amcor Pet last summer). Evian will be in the beginning of 2008, the first mineral water brand to release this kind of bottles in the French market.
The bottles containing R-PET are already in the British market. According to Evian, R-PET will allow the company to reduce 17% of the carbon prints related to the packaging of a 1.5L bottle, Evian’s main product.
