Elopak Develops Ground-Breaking Packaging Format for Daregal
28 Mar 2011 --- Daregal, the French herbs expert, has worked with Elopak to develop a revolutionary solution to be launched in spring 2011. A ground-breaking packaging format will provide home cooks with the next best thing to having year-round aromatic herbs in the heart of the kitchen.
Curve with revolving cap
The ready-to-use, deep-frozen, chopped herbs can go directly from the freezer into any dishes such as soup, sauce, salad or spread with no thawing necessary. The desired amount can be sprinkled out using a new, rotating dosing cap. The cap has been sourced externally to provide a turnkey solution to the unique challenge of serving the world’s finest herbs.
The key market trends of health and wellbeing have led to an increased demand for fresh produce and a taste of “sunshine on our plate”. Aromatic herbs are an ideal way to provide consumers with the aromas and freshness of nature’s concentrated goodness. Varieties include garlic, parsley, basil, dill, chervil, chives, coriander, shallots, tarragon, mint, onion, oregano, Italian mix and Salad mix.
Consumer and retailer benefits
Daregal’s new, deep-frozen herbs range consists of 14 different aromatic varieties, all packaged in 50g e or 100g e Diamond Curve carton with a specially-sourced closure. The Diamond Curve carton was chosen by Daregal to protect aromatic qualities and preserve original nutritional values. Consumers benefit from easy access to aromatic herbs independently of season, with the added benefits of an extended shelf-life and easy storage. Consumer focus groups showed that whilst stored in the freezer, the packaging also protects the free-flowing nature of the contents even at extremely low temperatures. This enables easy dosage each and every time.
In-store, Daregal’s standing packs are merchandised within frozen cabinets across retailers. The Diamond Curve carton catches the eye, guaranteeing sales. Its added functionality when twinned with the cap provides a winning on-shelf combination.
