DSM Food Specialties divests HVP business
The move comes as part of a DFS strategy to focus on core activities.
Yeast extract giant DSM Food Specialties (DFS) has sold its HVP business to Oterap Holding BV. The move comes as part of a DFS strategy to focus on core activities. As a result, DFS has decided to divest its interests in the manufacture and sales of HVP based products, in order to further strengthen its position in Yeast Extract based Processed Flavours. The size of the sale transaction has not been made public.
“DSM has always been striving for market leadership and the HVP business has undergone a lot of consolidation”, Medard Schoenmaeckers at the company explained to FoodIngredientsFirst. “Our position in this sector is very small, so small that we will not reach market leadership here”, he added.
Oterap Holding is a conglomerate of companies in the food industry specializing in the customization of food and flavour products in composition, packaging and distribution. DFS say that the Exter brand will grow the specialty HVP business and offer tailor made flavour components to the European food-, flavour-, and seasonings industry.
