Döhler Highlight New Beverage Bases
There was a particular focus here on the use of functional ingredients, like natural vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, phytosterol and lutein.
The Döhler Group has presented innovative products that engage with centrally important consumer trends: pleasure, health, naturalness and a balanced nutrition are the factors currently determining consumer attitudes to beverages and food products at Food Ingredients Europe. As an interna-tional manufacturer of fruit juice concentrates, fruit prepara-tions, blends, compounds, ingredient systems, emulsions, flavours and colours, the DöhlerGroup introduced the most up-to-date ideas in all categories – ideas that link in with cur-rent trends and open up new markets for the beverage and dairy industries.
There was a particular focus here on the use of functional ingredients, like natural vitamins, minerals, omega-3 fatty acids, phytosterol and lutein. In developing its formulae the DöhlerGroup is able to make use of citrus fractions and natural flavours like the FTNF/FNTJ flavours which are produced at its own plant in Brazil. Another major emphasis has been placed on various sweetening elements, including fruit sweeteners under the heading of Döhler “Multisweet fruit” and the various sweetener combinations offered by Döhler “Multisweet plus”.
New Beverage Bases: refreshingly different
The production of ultra-natural healthy beverages with an outstanding taste is made possible by new methods based on Döhler’s research. Basic raw ingredients like malt, tea, yogurt and juice can be used to make new bases for bever-ages or dairy products. While the basis for this is fermenta-tion, one of the oldest human techniques for preserving foods, alcoholic fermentation is avoided. The sparing concentration of the fermented substances makes it possible for them to be used in beverage bases without any loss of their valuable ingredients.
Based on the healthy ingredient malt, the DöhlerGroup has created new non-alcoholic beverages. The wide range of flavours displayed at the FIE extended from lemon and apple drinks to non-alcoholic drinks resembling beer and with a hop flavour, as well as non-alcoholic malt-based soft drinks with natural fruit flavours or tasting like cola.
Citrus fractions: the taste of the world
Citrus fractions result in new products based on Döhler’s research into flavours. The citrus flavour is the main taste factor in the majority of all beverages, and is in demand with consumers all over the world. At the trade fair the DöhlerGroup presented citrus flavour ingredients that can figure in many types of beverages. These can be used strategically and in the most versatile way to bring about a wide range of tastes and flavours.
The Darmstadt-based company presented new formulae and ideas for all categories of beverages. These included classic refreshing beverages (generally in calorie-reduced or low-calorie variants), juices & snacks, aqua plus beverages, still drinks, drinking yogurts and dairy products, as well as malt beverages and alcoholic mixed beverages.
