Jury decision
The relation between the microwave cooker and food packaging is entering a new phase. The microwave already offers ease of use, the possibility of preparing meals individually. The concept of the CuliDish takes this a step further. CuliDish is a modular food packing system intended for use in the microwave. The packing has the extraordinary property of being able to control the amount of microwave energy that can reach the different meal components, as a result of which it is possible to prepare salad and meat in the microwave at the same time. The functionality of the CuliDish concept is unique of its kind and is considered to be revolutionary by the market. The control over the microwave radiation is achieved by means of a label developed especially for this purpose. During the production process (injection moulded inmould labelling) this label is incorporated into the wall of the food packaging. Meal components can be modularly packaged as a result of which the possibility of cook-chill cooking is maximized, as well as combining partial deliveries from different suppliers. In this way, thanks to the CuliDish, a high-quality meal can be prepared in the microwave. An application has been made for a European and worldwide patent. The Dutch “De Gouden Noot 2008” packaging competition “De Gouden Noot” is the prize for the most innovative packaging brought onto the Dutch market during the previous period. The competition takes place once every two years under the auspices of the Netherlands Packaging Centre. “De Gouden Noot 2008” was the 24th edition, with which the competition also celebrated its 50th anniversary. For this edition, 47 packaging systems were submitted, an increase of 10% with respect to 2006. The 10 nominations were chosen in the first jury round, which took 2 full days. The final jury decision was made in the second round, in which each nominee could present its entry in the presence of the complete jury.
