The company’s highly concentrated, high-purity quaternary ammonium salt, was recently certified kosher by the Organized Kashrus Laboratories.
27/04/06 Specialty chemicals supplier Cognis has increased the number of kosher products in its range: Aliquat® 134 Reagent (also known as Aliquat® 336) , the company’s highly concentrated, high-purity quaternary ammonium salt, was recently certified kosher by the Organized Kashrus Laboratories. Offering kosher products is part of Cognis’ efforts to help its customers meet the needs of consumers from diverse ethnic and religious groups.
Kosher certification is an essential purchasing criterion for millions of consumers of food and medical products around the world, particularly for adherents of the Jewish faith. By achieving this certification for Aliquat 134 Reagent, a quaternary ammonium salt used as a phase transfer catalyst and solvent extraction agent, Cognis is expanding its range of products for kosher consumers of personal care, food and pharmaceutical products.
Kosher certification is also seen as a sign of quality by many consumers who are not religiously motivated. Certified products which do not contain meat or dairy are also popular with vegetarians and people with lactose allergies respectively. They can also be uses as substitutes to meet Islamic dietary restrictions. Comments Chris Koob, Global Business Manger Ion-Transfer Technology: “By expanding our comprehensive portfolio of kosher products, we are enabling our customers around the world to fulfill growing specific consumer expectations.”
