Ciders Lovers’ Choice: Apricot Is The New Flavour For The Summer
28 Mar 2014 --- Finland’s most popular cider, Upcider, asked fans again to come up with next summer’s seasonal flavour.
When it was up to cider enthusiasts, the result was a refreshing apricot flavour. According to studies, cider lovers are prone to experiment and keen to try new flavours.
The new Upcider for the summer, Upcider Aprikoosi, has been developed in cooperation with cider fans.
It has been studied that cider lovers are very prone to experiment. They are willing to try new flavours and enjoy seasonal flavours. Ciders are often bought in two or three different flavours just for tasting. Finns favour clear and natural flavours. This summer’s seasonal flavour, apricot, has been developed by cider fans, says Hartwall’s Cider Brand Manager, Mira Halonen.
Upcider Aprikoosi (4.7%) has an aroma of a fresh apricot ripened under the hot summer sun and its flavour is balanced and soft. The first apricot flavoured cider broadens the selection of light ciders. The cider’s energy content is only 30 kilocalories per decilitre.
Upcider Aprikoosi (4.7%) will be available in 0.5 litre recyclable plastic bottles from the end of March. The seasonal flavour is available for one year.
Developed With Cider Fans
Last summer, six people who liked Upcider on Facebook got to spend a day at the Lahti brewery participating in product development of the new cider together with Hartwall’s product development experts. A common factor among all participants was an interest in ciders and the product development process. The product development day has now been organised twice. The participants were selected from among Upcider’s Facebook fan community based on applications.
Last summer we brought to the market the first cider developed with cider fans, the dry pomegranate-flavoured cider that become a real success. We were especially delighted with the enthusiasm and commitment that Upcider fans showed for brainstorming and developing a new flavour, says Mira Halonen.
