The move comes as a result of rising sugar and packaging costs.
21/04/06 China, Ice cream makers are planning to raise prices this summer to account for the rising sugar and packaging costs. Some companies are launching more high end products to counter the pressure.
The price of sugar hit a 20-year high in China's major producing regions. It was about 5,300 yuan (US$660) per ton in early February, more than doubling the price from a year ago.
Mengniu Dairy, one of China's largest dairy and ice cream makers, is planning to raise prices to distributors across the country. Unilever's ice cream unit Wall's has also raised its popular Cornetto brand to 3 yuan per item from last year's 2.5 yuan.
