Celanese sells omega-3 DHA business to Lonza
The sale of DHA is in line with Celanese's overall strategy to focus on its core businesses as well as with Nutrinova's policy to focus on its core sweetener and food protection businesses.
20/12/05 Celanese Corporation has announced that it has sold the omega-3 DHA business of its performance products segment Nutrinova to Lonza Ltd., Switzerland. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
The sale of DHA is in line with Celanese's overall strategy to focus on its core businesses as well as with Nutrinova's policy to focus on its core sweetener and food protection businesses.
DHA is derived entirely from micro-algae based natural sources. It is widely regarded as the most important omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid. There is a broad variety of applications for DHA such as dietary supplements, functional foods and specialty nutrition products.
