Cascadian Farm® introduces Cascadian Farm Clifford™ Crunch cereal
An organic cereal made specifically for kid nutrition.
24/02/05 Cascadian Farm, a leader in the organic industry, is bringing big nutritious changes to the breakfast table. The company has announced the introduction of Cascadian Farm Clifford™ Crunch cereal, an organic cereal made specifically for kid nutrition. The cereal features Clifford The Big Red Dog on the front of the package.
This great tasting organic cereal offers parents a healthy option for their children. Cascadian Farm Clifford Crunch is an excellent source of fiber and a good source of calcium and vitamins E and D. According to the Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee, kids are falling short of their recommended intake for fiber, calcium and vitamin E. In fact, a national nutrition survey shows that the median fiber intake is almost 6g fiber/1000 kcal/day, which is less than half of the recommended intake. The good news is that beyond great taste, one serving of Cascadian Farm Clifford Crunch has 5 grams of dietary fiber, which helps promote digestive and overall health; vitamin E, to help keep the body's immune system healthy; and calcium and vitamin D, to aid the building of strong bones and teeth.
As with all Cascadian Farm products, the cereal is certified organic. Certified organic foods are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and contain no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
Grocery and natural/organic food retailers will be carrying Cascadian Farm's Clifford Crunch beginning in February 2005. The cereal will be found nationwide by mid-March in the cereal and/or organic food aisle. The packaging showcases the likeness of Clifford The Big Red Dog and provides fun entertainment for kids on the back panel.
Cascadian Farm(R), founded in 1972, and Muir Glen(R) are part of Small Planet Foods, a division of General Mills. Small Planet Foods produces more than 150 organic food items that span eight organic food categories: frozen vegetables, frozen fruit, fruit-spreads, cereals and snack bars marketed under the Cascadian Farm brand; and canned tomatoes, pasta sauces and salsa marketed under the Muir Glen brand. Small Planet Foods' products are sold nationwide in natural food stores and select supermarkets.
Clifford The Big Red Dog is a "bone"afide children's literary classic. First published by Norman Bridwell in 1963, there are now 110 million Clifford books in print. In fall 2000, everyone's favorite BIG red dog made his TV debut on PBS KIDS(R) and the animated series has rapidly become one of today's biggest hits. The top-rated show has received numerous accolades, most notably multiple Emmy nominations three years in a row and the Humanitas Prize in the children's animation category for a groundbreaking episode about disabilities. In 2004, Clifford jumped to the big screen in his first theatrical release, Clifford's Really Big Movie.
