Berryman Appointed Chief Executive of Leatherhead Food International
Since 2005, Dr. Berryman has operated as LFI's Research Director, improving the profitability of research and analytical services, developing and implementing a new Science Strategy.
10/01/08 Dr. Paul Berryman has been appointed Chief Executive of Leatherhead Food International, a provider of scientific research, information and consultancy for the global food and drink industry. Since 2005, Dr. Berryman has operated as LFI's Research Director, improving the profitability of research and analytical services, developing and implementing a new Science Strategy, enhancing LFI's Forum Research programme for members and directing 15 Government Research projects, including 10 for the UK Food Standards Agency.
Dr Berryman, 48, has 27 years experience in food science and food law, working in five different scientific and technical consultancies including the Birmingham Public Analyst Laboratory, Clayton Environmental Consultants Ltd (now part of Bodycote Lawlabs), Hampshire Scientific Service and Hampshire County Council's Trading Standards Service.
He was also Deputy Chairman of the LACORS Food Policy Forum, which coordinates UK Food Enforcement Policy, and as a member of the Food Labelling Committee he provided expert national advice on interpretation of food labelling laws. Paul sat on three Food Standards Agency committees and was recently appointed to the Steering Committee of DRINC - a new £10m BBSRC initiative to fund research into nutrition, health and bioactives. He is a non-executive Director of the Food Processing Faraday and is a member of the Government Chemist Advisory Group, created to oversee and support the LGC's Government Chemist referee function.
