BASF to Increase Prices for Propionic Acid in Europe

The major application of the organic acid is feed grain preservation. It is also widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals, crop protection agents, solvents, food preservatives and plastics.
Mar 16 2012 --- With immediate effect, or as existing contracts permit, BASF will increase its European selling prices for propionic acid by €120/mt.
BASF is a leading supplier of propionic acid. The major application of the organic acid is feed grain preservation. It is also widely used in the production of pharmaceuticals, crop protection agents, solvents, food preservatives and plastics. BASF produces propionic acid at its Verbund sites in Ludwigshafen, Germany, and Nanjing, China.
