Balchem unveils plant-based powders and creamers at SupplySide West 2023
29 Sep 2023 --- Balchem, a manufacturer of specialty ingredients for human nutrition and health, is launching a range of innovative products for the nutraceutical market at the SupplySide West exhibition in Las Vegas, US (Oct 26-27).
The company is showcasing its plant-based powders, including an oat-milk-based creamer for coffee Frappuccino and its integrated solutions that “combine multiple ingredients for enhanced benefits.”
“We’re excited to unveil the launch of our new range of powder and cereal ingredients and to discuss formulation opportunities with our partners at SupplySide West,” says Ria Dake, senior business director of powders & cereals at Balchem Human Nutrition and Health.
“Our powders have been specially developed to tackle demanding tasks like creating vegan dishes, promoting functional health with Medium-Chain Triglycerides (MCT) based ingredients and easily achieving cold water solubility for added convenience,” she details.
Lipid powders: Tasting the future
One of the main attractions at Balchem’s booth (#5036) is the expansion of its lipid-based powder offering with the launch of VitalBlend MCT 7202 NG.
The product is “a high energy source that enhances both texture and taste in food and beverage applications while supporting health and vitality,” according to the business.
The company also plans to debut Richmix 3807, “A premium cold-water-soluble creamer that comes in different flavors and colors, perfect for popular beverages such as iced coffees, smoothies or frozen desserts.”
In addition, visitors will be able to discover two plant-based alternatives.

The second is Richmix 4808, a versatile, allergen-free, plant-based powder that can substitute dairy-based spray-dried lipid powders in beverage formulations. It also resists curdling in acidic environments.
Holistic health prototypes
Balchem will also showcase its prototypes that combine multiple ingredients from its Human Nutrition and Health portfolio for enhanced benefits to target “multiple health categories.”
These new concepts include UpLift Mood Melts, featuring VitaCholine, which aids adult cognition, an Accentuate Beauty Stick for longevity and the UpCharge Bar for enhanced performance. The company will also spotlight the synergies between Albion Minerals and K2Vital Delta, a microencapsulated all-trans vitamin K2 MK-7 preparation that can be combined with minerals.
“Encapsulated twice, the exceptional stability of K2Vital Delta allows manufacturers to blend it with the highly bioavailable chelated minerals, such as Albion Minerals, without compromising efficacy,” the business explains.
In related news, this week, John Oliver Riemann and Eric Ciappio, from Balchem presented scientific evidence supporting the significant role of choline and iron in enhancing cognitive function among children and delved into global data on dietary intake and nutrient gaps.
Showcasing its research and commitments
Balchem will also highlight its commitment to creating a more ethical marketplace.
The company has recently joined forces with a third party-laboratory, Alkemist Labs, to address rising concerns regarding vitamin K2 quality in the US market – particularly for online channels.
Balchem also notes that its TruQuality for K2Vital and TRAACS (The Real Amino Acid Chelate System) for Albion Minerals have been “developed to forge an ethical marketplace, where customers and end users can trust the products they choose.”
Eric Ciappo, Balchem’s strategic development manager of Nutrition Science, will host a presentation entitled “Unlocking the promise of health span with science-backed ingredients”.
The presentation will spotlight Balchem’s most recent scientific research, such as their hair health and cognition studies.
Also attending SupplySide West, functional ingredient provider DSM-Firmenich will present its latest strides in gut support, women’s wellness and cognitive performance innovations.
