American Sugar Refining acquires C & H Sugar Company
The addition of C & H will bring American Sugar Refining's annual capacity to approximately 3,000,000 tons of refined sugar and specialty products.
11/08/05 American Sugar Refining, Inc., based in Yonkers, New York, has completed the acquisition of C & H Sugar Company, Inc.. American Sugar Refining is owned by Florida Crystals Corporation and Sugar Cane Growers Cooperative of Florida.
C & H operates a cane sugar refinery in Crockett, California. American Sugar Refining owns three other refineries in Yonkers, New York, Baltimore, Maryland and Chalmette, Louisiana. The addition of C & H will bring American Sugar Refining's annual capacity to approximately 3,000,000 tons of refined sugar and specialty products.
The C & H(R) brand is the West Coast's premier sugar brand. Domino Foods, the sales and marketing arm of American Sugar Refining and Okeelanta Corporation, will add C & H(R) to its brand portfolio that already includes the Domino(R), Florida Crystals(R) and Jack Frost(R) brands.
This acquisition gives Domino Foods a national platform to better serve its customers through a broader distribution and logistics infrastructure. It will enhance American Sugar Refining's competitiveness coast to coast and in the U.S.-Mexican market created by NAFTA.
