AHD Introduces Luralean Grade for Frozen Food

This grade of LuraLean maintains its efficacy completely when flash frozen and can be used in a variety of frozen functional food products including: pizzas; pasta meals; burritos, wraps and pocket sandwiches.

16/12/08 AHD International, a distributor of new-to-market nutraceutical, functional food and functional beverage ingredients announced that LuraLean, the company's condensed, water-soluble, dietary fiber formula clinically proven to promote weight loss, maintain healthy cholesterol levels already within the normal range and support regularity, is now available in a grade developed specifically for use in all types of frozen foods. This grade of LuraLean maintains its efficacy completely when flash frozen and can be used in a variety of frozen functional food products including: pizzas; pasta meals; burritos, wraps and pocket sandwiches; breakfast items such as toaster pastries and waffles; as well as cakes, pies and dessert items.

"LuraLean offers manufacturers a way to greatly increase the fiber content in their frozen food offerings, without adding excess bulk that can compromise taste and texture," stated John Alkire, president, AHD International.  "This particular grade of LuraLean is an extremely fine mesh powder that delivers a smooth mouth feel in addition to being freeze-, pH-, salt- and sugar-stable."

When consumed, LuraLean interacts with liquid in the stomach to swell to nearly 200 times its original size. Once expanded in the system, LuraLean promotes a feeling of satiety while traveling through the gastrointestinal tract, causing individuals to eat less. Additionally, LuraLean acts as a magnet, attracting and binding excess oils and calories and carrying them out of the system through normal digestion. AHD manufactures LuraLean using a proprietary extraction process that delivers a raw material that is free of enzymes and impurities to ensure it does not break down as it passes through the gastro-intestinal tract like other fibers.

More than 14 safety studies and 60 clinical trials have been conducted using LuraLean, confirming it has no adverse side effects at the recommended amount and is effective in promoting weight loss, maintaining healthy cholesterol levels already within the normal range and supporting regularity. AHD offers additional grades of LuraLean for dietary supplements and low and high-viscosity beverage applications.
