20 Jul --- Fifth generation Italian wine producer Vietti has received the only 100-point rating from The Wine Advocate for the 2007 Barolo vintage.
Italian wine critic Monica Larner recently profiled current releases from Piedmont, donning Vietti Barolo Riserva Villero with a perfect score. It also received 96+ points from critic Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media, who called the wine "a flat-out stunner" and 98 points from critic James Suckling who declared "This is a Barolo forever."
The 2007 Vietti Barolo Riserva Villero is part of the winery's unique art label collection, a tradition that the family has been practicing for over 40 years. Chinese artist Qiu Guangping created the 2007 label. The Riserva bottling is only produced in exceptional vintages. The Villero vineyard is one of Piedmont's most famous cru vineyards in Castiglione Falletto.
Larner calls the wine "of staggering beauty and downright flawlessness…" She adds, "I tasted 1,200 wines during my stay in Piedmont and can say without a doubt that no wine impressed me more than Vietti's 2007 Barolo Riserva Villero. I remember the wine vividly as if I had a glass in front of me now. In fact, I have not been able to shake the memory of the wine's profound beauty. It is etched deep into my tasting memory. Luca Currado is an immensely talented winemaker and I am absolutely convinced that this is the finest bottle he has made to date. It is the culmination of a career that is only partially complete, and this is great news for all of us who admire his work. It is a symbol of the promise to come."
