1st European Bioplastics Conference is Expected to Attract a Large Number of Participants
The interest in biobased products is growing, and not only in Europe - A delegation with representatives of the Chinese bioplastics industry already announced to attend the conference.
25/08/06 European Bioplastics, the industry association organising the "First European Bioplastics Conference", expects a large number of participants and guests to take part in the event to be held from November 21-22 in Brussels. The accompanying 300 m2 table-top exhibition space is fully booked with 20 exhibitors.
In 25 presentations, innovations in materials, product and technology development will be introduced. "The number of materials and products ready for the market is steadily growing - and we would like to demonstrate the variety of application possibilities", says Harald Kaeb, chairman of European Bioplastics and conference chair. The experiences of the European food trade with compostable biopackaging as well as the market development in the individual countries are other topics of the conference. "The conference aims at bringing together manufacturers and users of bioplastic products; sufficient time will be provided for individual talks", adds Kaeb.
Industry representatives will also seek to ascertain the political linkage: in his opening speech, Heinz Zourek, Director General of the DG Enterprise and Industry in the European Commission, will examine the policy of innovation and sustainable development in Europe. The organisers will also invite further representatives of the Commission as well as members of the European Parliament to gather information on bioplastics. The interest in biobased products is growing, and not only in Europe - A delegation with representatives of the Chinese bioplastics industry already announced to attend the conference.
The conference will be held in English and the programme is now available at the conference website: www.conference.european-bioplastics.org.
