L’Italiana Aromi highlighted the company’s brewed teas at this year's Anuga, obtained from different types of tea (black, oolong, green, white and yellow). Rich in catechins, such as homemade tea, this year brewed teas were presented in lemon, peach, pomegranate, lychee, raspberry and mint flavors. Infusions of chamomile, hibiscus and red fruits, elder and rose, rooibos and orange were all on diaply at Anuga 2015. “Brewed tea now accounts for 30% of the Italian iced tea market,” says Roberto Tirelli at L’italiana Aromi, who explains: “Brewed tea is a natural development of iced tea. Compared to a traditional iced tea, the process that we use is 100% natural; only hot waters and tea leaves and we do not use any chemical process, such as what is used for the extracts in ice tea.”
This is Rmores at the Annuga in Cologne and I'm here with Roberto Tirelli from Latiani Aromi, and the company is particularly highlighting the trend towards brewed teas.
Roberto, can you tell me a bit about brewed tea as, as a soft drink and why it's trending right now?
OK, the brewed tea is the natural.
Development of the iced tea compared to a traditional iced tea, the process we use is 100% natural, only hot water and tea leaves, and we do not apply any chemical process as it happens to the tea extracts that are used for the iced tea.
Just to improve their soil in cold water.
So basically this more often they define the beauty, define real tea.
Or Brioimple Beauty.
This is just to tell you that these products are really natural, 100% natural, and are very close to the tea you can get home with a non-preparation using a tea bag.
In fact, the other very important difference compared to the iced tea is that the catechin content that are Most important soluble ingredients of the tea are the same that you can find in a cup of tea, while iced tea has less than 7% compared to a blue tea, so the catechin content is 10 times more, and they are very close to home tea preparation with a tea bag.
And this is something that's really in the Italian market.
There's been strong growth in this area.
Yes, in the Italian market it is growing, but we had the opportunity to present this kind of products, the beauty, even to very big companies in the US or in South America or in Europe, and all the markets, all the producers are looking to this product as a reality.
For the next years, you're presenting quite a few different flavors.
Can you say some trend, we always starting from Callia sinensis, the real tea plants.
We decided to present a black tea that is a fully fermented tea with a lemon taste, oolong peach tea, oolong is a semi-fermented tea, and green tea we delated, for example, with pomegranate.
Yellow tea has been presented with a tangerine flavor and a white tea with a lychee flavor, so we have almost all the kinds of teas with different tastes.
And what are the ones you're presenting here?
For example, this is a peach oolong tea, while this is a yellow tangerine tea that are quite.
Products in this case we have hibiscus red fruits because hibiscus is very close to the concept of green tea because it contains a lot of antioxidant substances, so it's very healthy and we decided to prepare brewed as the tea and to present it this year.
Do you think hibiscus is a kind of a Trending flavor still, yes, it's kind of trending flavor because it's a super fruits.
It's considered superfruit, so full of antioxidants, and today people want to drink more healthy drinks compared to the traditional ones.
For the same reason we have chamomile as , for example.
Roberto, thank you very much.
You're welcome.
