The Celanese ingredient business Nutrinova introduced the Qorus Sweetener System at this year’s IFT. Qorus is claimed to “enable brands to deliver not only great tasting reduced calorie labels but also authentic taste.” “We wanted to make sure that when our customers wanted to reduce calories in their product, it does not necessarily have to change any of the balances or harmonies that they currently have. Consumer expectations do therefore not necessarily have to be compromised,” says Paul Kim at Celanese. “Qorus consists of non-nutritive sweeteners such as acesulfame-K or sucralose, in combination with other natural flavor systems, that work with the sweetener system to generate the taste sensation that is exactly like sugar or high fructose corn syrup,” he explains.
