The launch of a silicone mold gelatin solution – Rousselot

20 Dec 2017 --- Rousselot is highlighting a new silicone mold gelatin solution called SiMoGel. “Classically, gelatin gummies have always been made in starch molds, but now with the growing trend of nutraceuticals where you put APIs or vitamins in your gummies, you don’t want these vitamins or APIs getting into your starch and being recycled over and over in your process, so you want to use silicon molds” says Jeff Daelman. If silicon molds are to be used with gelatin, then a gelatin that sets quickly is needed. That used to be a limiting factor, but Rousselot has recorded setting times of between 15 and 30 minutes with its new solution in trials.

A unique bioactive protein, Peptan provides multiple benefits proven in scientific studies for healthy aging, joint and bone health, sports nutrition and skin beauty. Elke De Clerck of Rousselot says: “What we are showing this year is a combination of functional and fortified nutrition with dedicated ingredients. There is a shift from purely supplements to actual functional food. Functional confectionery is a great example of this, but also desserts can work.”

Innovative Delivery System for Senior Nutrition

08 Dec 2014 --- The Dutch start-up Fortified Food Coatings BV collaborated with Rousselot and DSM on a ready meal concept for the elderly, where nutrients [such as a blend of collagen peptides, vitamin D3 and calcium] are blended in a thin layer of gelatine that is sprayed over the meal and also stops the food from sliding on the plate, even when held at an angle. The concept is ideal for foodservice suppliers for the care homes for the elderly, with the fortified blend improving the presentation on the plate.
