Givaudan highlights the future of food using plant-based proteins

28 Oct 2019 --- Plant-based meat alternatives represent one of the most potent dietary shifts today and flavor giant Givaudan is underscoring the potential of plant-based proteins as it seeks to “redefine the meat category.” Speaking to FoodIngredientsFirst, Flavio Garofalo, Global Category Director for Savoury Flavours at Givaudan, notes that showcasing plant proteins at the center of the plate doesn’t necessarily mean mimicking meat. Instead, it’s about “thinking creatively and designing culinary dishes that inspire the tastes,” he says.

New concepts with plant-based extracts

16 Jun 2019 --- Naturex (now a Givaudan company) presented their Turmipure Gold solution. The ingredient is claimed to elevate turmeric to the next level by being instant water dispersible, 100 percent clean label and organic. It has a neutral taste a beautiful color, is very easy to formulate in beverages. It is also clinically proven to be more bioavailable than standard turmeric 95 percent cucruminoids at a low 300mg dose. At IFT 2019, the company presented several plant-based concepts to highlight the diversity of their portfolio and also how the taste masking properties of Givaudan’s flavors business can now be used to optimize the flavor of plant-based nutritionals.

01 Dec 2012 --- Givaudan continues to strengthen its flavor position. Flavour Division sales were E1,401 million during the first nine months of 2012, an increase of 4.8% in local currencies. The increased sales were as a result of new wins in key segments and volume growth of the existing business.

06 Nov 2018 --- Mauricio Graber took the helm as new Chr. Hansen CEO on June 1, 2018, having previously served as President of the Flavours Division of Givaudan. Chr. Hansen recently reported its Q4 and full financial earnings. The company announced that it had achieved the overall financial targets set at the beginning of the year and raised its ambitions 9-11 percent organic growth for next year. It is the company’s core business of Cultures & Enzymes, which represents 59 percent of their business that performed the strongest, with bioprotection and probiotics forming key pillars here. FoodIngredientsFirst spoke with Mauricio about the current business environment and new opportunities for microbes.

23 Jan 2017 --- Mondelez International is selling Vegemite and most of its other grocery brands in Australia and New Zealand to Australian dairy company Bega Cheese for $347m. Vegemite, a food spread made from leftover brewers’ yeast extract which is revered by its fans, is returning to the country where it was founded over ninety years ago. Other companies mentioned are Emmi, Givaudan, Arla, Novozymes and The Hain Celestial Group.
