Yumwoof elevates dog nutrition with gut health “super fats” as founder demands industry transparency

19 May 2023 --- Discoveries in the gut-brain axis are taking pet nutrition to the next level. Scientific evidence is increasingly suggesting that “super fats” in dogs’ diets can prolong the length and quality of the animal’s life, according to US-based dog nutrition brand Yumwoof.

Yumwoof’s founder Jaron Lukas has “meticulously scrutinized” over 3,000 clinical studies on animal nutrition, which has guided the company’s GMO-free product formulation for dogs. Lukas – a nutrition expert with an extensive background in data analytics – has compiled his findings in a new book: The Canine Cocomega Effect.

“In this book, I explore 162 clinical studies, which together reveal groundbreaking discoveries on how ‘super fats’ can help our dogs live longer. My team and I strive to understand the intricate breakdown of individual ingredients in a dog’s digestive tract, how they are absorbed into the body and their biochemical movements,” he tells NutritionInsight.

“Understanding these details has enabled us to create the best possible nutrition through modern, biologically-appropriate dog food.”

Transparency triumphs
Yumwoof aims to inspire a movement empowering pet parents to demand health and honesty from the pet food industry.

Gut health gains
The company is a “staunch advocate” for gut health and its “profound impact on the well-being of dogs.” Its formulations support gut health with the use of non-GMO ingredients, low-carb macros and Cocomega’s “super fats” while avoiding seed oils, peas, legumes, rice, potatoes and other “inflammatory ingredients.”

“As pet parents become increasingly aware of the paramount importance of gut health in humans, it is only fitting that we extend the same consideration to our dogs,” continues Lukas.

Moreover, many pet parents are looking for non-GMO ingredients and alternative proteins, according to Lukas. Notably, US-based dog food company Wild Earth unveiled a cell-based meat broth topper last year.

Affordable nutrition
Meanwhile, rising inflation and the cost-of-living crisis mean consumers are demanding more value from their regular food purchases, with Innova Market Insights crowning “Redefining Value” as its top F&B trend for 2023.Yumwoof provides a biologically-appropriate diet for dogs, including low card macros, anti-inflammatory omega-3 ratios, no simple carbohydrates, no peas or legumes, GMO-free and air-drying.

While Lukas reminds shoppers that natural dog food, which uses real ingredients and better cooking methods, will inevitably cost more than conventional kibble, his brand has taken two steps to address affordability concerns.

“We’ve introduced Perfect Dog Food Mix to offer fresh dog food that costs 40% less than popular brands like Farmer’s Dog, Ollie and PetPlate. Also, our latest innovation Perfect Feast – an air-dried dog food featuring hypoallergenic meats – is priced 35% lower than these brands,” he says.

“Ultimately, natural dog food is an investment in your dog’s health. By educating pet parents on nutrition, we can help dogs live longer and reduce veterinary bills.”

Packing a punch
Through its EcoPup Mission, Yumwoof has incorporated biodegradable packaging into its air-dried Perfect Kibble and Perfect Dog Food Mix. Moreover, its topper packaging is recyclable.

“We have introduced carbon-neutral shipping to offset emissions, giving customers peace of mind on their deliveries,” Lukas tells us.

“To further combat climate change, Yumwoof is now planting a tree with every order.”
