25/08/06 Breweries are currently posting encouraging sales figures for beer mix drinks. WILD has launched Fructsweet, promoted as the ideal sweetener, so that manufacturers can realize both production-based and cost-based benefits.
WILD has developed the Fructsweet sweetening system particularly for reduced calorie beer-based drinks. It incorporates a multi-fruit concentrate complete with sweeteners to give an improved mouth feel and optimum taste profile. The Fructsweet sweetening system is ideal for beer mix drinks where the malt flavor needs to be accentuated without an artificial aftertaste being generated.
Consumers benefit from a 40 percent reduction in calorie content compared with conventional beer mix drinks. By using Fructsweet, breweries gain several advantages when manufacturing beer mix drinks – processing is easier because the liquid fruit concentrate is already contained in the basic ingredient. In addition, Fructsweet does not need to be pasteurized during processing, unlike sugar syrup. In the product, Fructsweet is stable and tastes the same as varieties sweetened with sugar.
This WILD sweetener offers manufacturers significant cost benefits: not only can Fructsweet be added at lower doses than sugar thanks to its increased sweetening properties, but a lower beer tax compared to sugar sweetened beer mix drinks is payable because Fructsweet has a lower brix value than sugar. Beer mix drinks sweetened with Fructsweet have a lower gravity and are thus taxed lower.
