Vichy Catalan's New Labels are to Feature the Temple of the Sagrada Familia

25/01/08 Bottles of Vichy Catalan sparkling mineral water will now have a new artistic label commemorating the 125th anniversary of the day the first stone of the Sagrada Familia temple was laid. The Modernist label features some of the most characteristic elements of this masterpiece by the Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi.
Vichy Catalan’s new, limited-edition label has two parts. The left-hand side contains the text “125 aniversario de la Sagrada Familia – Gaudí” (125th anniversary of the Sagrada Familia – Gaudí”), over one of the church’s most characteristic elements: the outline of the top of one of the eight bell towers above the Nativity and Passion façades. The famous towers are shaped to represent a bishop’s crozier, the knot symbolises the ring, and each pinnacle has double shield resembling a bishop’s mitre containing a golden cross with the initials of the apostle to whom the tower is dedicated. The vertical shape of the towers represents the union between earth and the light.
The right-hand side of the label shows a Modernist-style stained-glass window consisting of three white flowers against a green background, over a small-scale reproduction of the Nativity façade. The façade and the church crypt were declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 2005. The centre of the label bears the characteristic Vichy Catalan seal, with its historic logo at the top. This beautiful label manages to harmonise the history of the brand with that of the expiatory temple.
The label on the back of the bottle also offers a brief tribute to the Holy Family basilica, which has been growing for 125 years, the same length of time that Vichy Catalan has been “supplying top quality water”. This new image of Modernist spiritualism to appear on Vichy Catalan sparkling natural mineral water bottle labels will appear on the range of reusable 1-litre, 500-ml. and 250-ml. bottles in the catering sector, and on the 1-litre and 250-ml. bottles that are marketed in the food sector.
